High Clearance at Glen Fosslyn

The Salter Family's Glen Fosslyn Droughtmaster Stud received solid support from new and repeat buyers at a very muddy and cold Roma Saleyards at their annual sale on Saturday.
A buyer group of predominately commercial cattlemen purchased 98 of the 102 bulls offered which averaged a solid $3,857 to achieve a clearance rate rarely seen this bull selling season.
Steve and Claire Farmer, Comanche Droughtmasters, Mornish via Rockhampton, made the $7,000 bid for Glen Fosslyn Bulla Makanka, a red, 24 month old polled son of Glen Fosslyn 112 who was presented in working condition having fat cover of 5mm and 4mm at the P8 and Rib respectively and supported an impressive set of EBV figures which ranked him in the top 10 percent for 200, 400 and 600 day growth.
Repeat buyers, Jack and Lyn Carmichael, Lochinvar Cattle Co. Augathella put together an excellent draft of eight bulls at an average $4,188 with a top of $5,000 for Glen Fosslyn 07/023, a very correct 23 month old commercial bull with hit the scales at 696kg.
Millmerran based producers, Western Creek Pastoral Company, added six new sires to their battery at a healthy average of $4,917 and top of $6,000 for Glen Fosslyn 07/098, a 24-month old, 738kg commercial bull with an EMA 115cm2.
New buyers, AC & K Day, Barcaldine took home eight to average $4,125 and top at $4,500 on three occasions.
Meanwhile, Glentulloch Grazing, though Tony Bowen at Landmark Injune provided strong support purchasing seven to average $3,571 and Ted Scholes, Braemar Investments Blackall, invested in another six at an average $3,500.
Long time supporters Jeff Ferrier, Nellybri, Surat and Russel Gillingham, Longvale, Wandoan each secured three good bulls to average $4,833 and $4,167 respectively.
