Glen Fosslyn and the Salter Family
David’s father and grandfather purchased “Glen Fosslyn” and a number of other properties in the Western Darling Downs and Maranoa in the early 1900’s following their move north from the Saltram Winery at Angaston in South Australia. “Glen Fosslyn” has since been developed from its virgin state running predominately sheep in the early days before moving into Droughtmaster cattle.
It was in the late 1940's when the WS6 brand that you now see on all the Glen Fosslyn cattle was first registered, making it one of the older registered brands in Queensland.

David with wife Betty ‘took over’ the running of “Glen Fosslyn” in 1973 upon his fathers retirement. They have expanded the family business over recent years with the purchase of “Gaybrielle Downs” at Glenmorgan in 1998 and “Cooma” at Surat in 2002.

The increased grazing area has enabled the family to expand their commercial cattle herd, which in turn has enabled David to closely monitor the performance of Glen Fosslyn Droughtmaster Bulls in a commercial environment. This monitoring has enabled David, and now Cameron and Shaun, the next generation of the Salter Family, to select cattle based on their commercial performance so that Glen Fosslyn Bulls will perform in both your stud and commercial herds.
